Soft Play Day
Melissa Naish Coordinator of Home for Good) looks back at the Easter Play Day, and looks forward to Home for Good's 2nd Birthday celebrations coming soon:
In the Easter Holiday’s Home For Good: Suffolk hosted a get together at a local soft play centre, with the aim of bringing together families who foster and adopt.
One of the adoptive parents who participated said "My children are now 8 and 9 and have been with us for 6 years. The school holidays is a great opportunities for them to meet up with others. I really like the idea that they can get together with other children who are adopted to play and have fun. This also means that they begin to develop relationships with others who are adopted from an early age and know that they are not alone in their differences".
In all, 14 families attended the activity allowing 20 children and their parents a chance to meet others. Families who joined in came from a variety of towns across the county - Felixstowe, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Diss. There were families who have known each other for a while, however 3 families were new to the meet up this time and we hope to see them again at our other connect groups and future events.
Home for Good: Suffolk aims to have another family meet up in June, as well as an ‘adult only’ evening especially for the foster carers and adopters to take some ‘well deserved’ time out. We are providing and pudding and drinks evening for them as part of our 2nd Birthday celebrations. We have had great response from lots of local businesses that have donated excellent family/adult experiences to be enjoyed by those that enter our raffle.
Help us to connect other families by sharing who we are with adopters and foster carers you know. They can get in touch and find out more through the links below.
